Workers provide additional information to build their skills-based profile:

• Primary trade, experience level, and years of experience
• Skills tags and safety training certifications (e.g., OSHA-30, OSHA-10)
• Availability, transportation methods, and overtime/emergency preferences
• Photos and videos of actual work (skill demonstration media)
• Reference contact information
• Privacy preferences (visibility toggles for name, email, and phone)

Employer Data

Employers provide company information and job posting details:

• Company name, contact information, industry, and size
• Job postings including trade role, experience requirements, pay range, and location
• Hiring activity (views, saves, contacts, and hires)

Partnership Inquiry Data

When you submit a partnership inquiry through our contact form, we collect your email address, the source of your inquiry, and the submission timestamp.

Verification Data

We collect phone verification data when you verify your phone number via SMS or voice call through our verification service (Twilio).

SMS Communications

If you provide your phone number, we may send you transactional SMS messages related to your use of the platform, including:

• Phone verification codes
• Job offer notifications from employers
• Reminders to complete time-sensitive hiring forms

Message frequency varies based on your hiring activity (typically 1-5 messages per month). Message and data rates may apply. You can opt out of SMS messages at any time by replying STOP to any message. Reply HELP for assistance. Consent to receive SMS is not a condition of using KinTrades.

Usage and Analytics Data

We use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors interact with our site. This may include pages visited, time on site, device type, and general location data. No personally identifiable information is shared with these services.

How We Use Your Information

• Matching: To match workers with relevant job opportunities using our skills-based matching algorithm
• Reliability Scoring: To calculate reliability scores based on profile completeness, verified contact info, skills demonstration, and safety certifications
• Platform Operations: To facilitate communication between workers and employers, process applications, and track hiring outcomes
• Placement Tracking: To support workforce development partners with grant compliance reporting and placement outcome metrics
• Content Moderation: To review uploaded photos and videos for appropriate content
• Communications: To send account-related notifications, verification codes, job offer alerts, hiring form reminders via email and SMS, and platform updates
• Improvement: To improve platform features and user experience

How We Store Your Information

Your data is securely stored using Microsoft Azure cloud services:

• Account and profile data in Azure SQL Database with encryption at rest
• Photos and videos in Azure Blob Storage with secure access controls
• Authentication managed through Microsoft Entra External ID

All data transmission is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS.

Who We Share Information With

We share information only in these limited circumstances:

• Employers: Worker profile information is visible to employers on the platform, subject to each worker's privacy settings (visibility toggles for name, email, and phone)
• Workforce Development Partners: Anonymized or aggregated placement data to support grant compliance reporting. Individual data is shared only with your knowledge as part of a workforce program partnership.
• Service Providers: We use trusted third-party services to operate the platform (Microsoft Azure for hosting and authentication, Twilio for phone verification, Azure Communication Services for email). These providers process data only on our behalf.
• Legal Requirements: If required by law, subpoena, or court order

Your Privacy Controls

Workers have direct control over their profile visibility:

• Name Visibility: Choose whether your full name is visible to employers
• Email Visibility: Choose whether your email address is visible to employers
• Phone Visibility: Choose whether your phone number is visible to employers

These settings can be updated at any time from your profile.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
• Correction: Update or correct inaccurate information in your profile
• Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Portability: Request your data in a portable format

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or compliance purposes. Anonymized placement data used for aggregate reporting may be retained indefinitely.

KinTrades is intended for individuals 16 years and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as our platform evolves. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
